Hibbing Hockey/Chisholm Boys reflects on the victory of the title game of section 7a

Bluejackets hit their ticket to the state tournament for the first time since 2011 with a 4 to 3 victory over CEC.

Duluth, Minn.- The Hibbing/Chisholm Boys Hockey Stories Season continued last night while the Bluejackets knocked Cloquet/Esko/Carlton of the best seeds in the game for the title of section 7a.

In the third period, the Lumberjacks took an advantage of 3 to 2 after a goal from Niko Gentilini, but the Bluejackets did not vanish when Cole Swanson finds the bottom of the network to tie things to three to force extra time.

In OT, Swanson sees the first year student Whitaker Rewertz opens to the front and hits him to hit the Bluejackets ticket to the state tournament for the first time since 2011 with a 4 to 3 victory over CEC.

“It was a routine, we had one of the best sections of the state and the children found a way. Cloquet is a great team, I thought two of the periods surpassed us. We collected it a bit in the third. But our goalkeeper played outstanding and in extra time, the boys found a way, ”said chief coach Aaron Jamnick.

For Rewertz, scoring the winning goalkeeper to send his team to the state was a dream for life.

“It is definitely a dream come true to obtain that goal. He entered the area, I went hard to the network, Cole hung his D and made a great play and took advantage of it at the back door and I was lucky to be there to take advantage of it, ”said Rewertz.

The Bluejackets will discover their first opponent in the state tournament on Saturday, March 1.
